Letterman Returns to Ball State

Letterman Returns to Ball State

David Letterman, the most famous alum to come out of Ball State University returned Monday night in Emems Auditorium.
Letterman brought two very well known filmmakers with him Spike Jonze and Bennett Miller. Miller is known for filming Money Ball and Jonze known for a lot of movies especially Jack Ass.

Letterman opened the night with his own stand up and also he went on to announce that he would be donating all of his memorabilia from the Tonight Show.

“I think it is really cool that is donating all of that to Ball State, it will be a good addition to the University,” Andrea Hollin a nutrition and dietetics student said.

During the conversation with Jonze and Bennett they gave some good advice and good words for people who might be a T-comm major.

“Editing is filmmaking,” Jones said. “The goal of filmmaking is to evoke a certain feeling you feel to others,” Bennett went on to say.

They also went into talking about the problem of woman and people of color in the filmmaking business industry.

Letterman stated, “we need a change and have more women in filmmaking.” Miller went on to agree, “It’s a hot issue with any angles of concern.”

During the conversation we got to relive Letterman’s one and only movie scene that he ever did. Bennett and Jonze recreated it with a couple of drama students.

They both were asked about their future plans with movie making. Bennett went onto say “I’m going to solve all of the worlds problems with a documentary.”

Journalist that Inspires me

I Like this quote I dislike this quote“My father took me to the first regular season game they ever played, when John Gilliam ran the opening kickoff back, ... So I've always had a special place in my heart for the franchise. ... I know how much they mean to that community.” Jim Nantz

My of the people that have inspired me to be a sports broadcaster has been Jim Nantz. The guy lives the dream if you ask me he gets to do all of the best sporting events. He has done Super Bowls, Masters, Final Fours and many more things. He is a inspiration to all because of how good of a broadcaster he is. I hope to be like Jim Nantz one day, to be the guy every one calls on to do all the big sporting events.

Winners and Loosers of Debate

Winners:

Carly Fiorina- She was the break out star of the night. She was able to capture the crowd polished, zinging answers. She earned the biggest applause of the night during the debate.

Marco Rubio- he took on Trump differently than Fiorina or Bush, dispatching the front-runner without attacking him directly, instead steering the debate toward his strengths.

Jeb Bush- He was able to fight Trump on many of his shots toward bush and his family.

Cris Christie- He was able to make himself seem like the grown up in the room and talked about the issues more then attacking other people.

Unclear:

Donald Trump- Had to play deffense most the night as he was getting attacks from all over the place.

John Kasich- He didn't really seem to change much from the first debate to the second one.

Losers:

Rand Paul- All he seemed to want to do is talk about all the weeknesses from Trump and not worry about his strengths.

Scott Walker- He didnt seem to have it tonight as he did come out shooting hard at Trump but then he kind of disappered.

Ben Carson- He seemed to keep it pretty mellow tonight as he didn't want to get in other peoples messes.

Mike Huckabee & Ted Cruz- They just didnt seem to stick out very well with the rest of the 11 candidates on stage.
